HOMILY FOR THE MEMORIAL OF STS. ANDREW DUNG LAC & COMPANIONS (24/11/2020)

THEME: CHALLENGES ARE BOUND TO COME
Jesus today calls the attention of all believers to the challenges that lie ahead. He talks of the coming of the day of Lord. While our attention may be focused on the last day, it’s important for us to draw our attention to the already existing realities. The fact that many are already having a foretaste of the challenges to come.

For each one of us, there may be many “earthquakes, famines, and plagues” that we encounter in life. They will take on various forms and will be the cause of much distress at times. Each time we are faced with these challenges, difficulties and troubles we must always remember that Jesus prepared our minds for this day.

Let our consolation be that Christ knew about it before it took place. He knows our needs, he understands our every pain, and he’s working for our good more than we can ever know. This was the consolation of the priest Andrew and companions who did not hesitate to offer their lives for the sake of Christ and his Gospel. Let this also be your courage in pain, hardship and misery. Then, giving thanks in all situations will be our daily song.

Good day and God bless your day!
