HOMILY OF THURSDAY WK 27 OF ORDINARY TIME YR II (08/10/2020)

THEME: WHAT COUNTS IN PRAYER???
The basic mark that distinguishes religion is faith . As Christians, we are called to a life of faith which enables us to believe without doubting whatever God has revealed. One such great revelation that we have come to know as Christians is that God has great concern and love for us all. Due to this fact, once there’s a voice to pray, there’s always a God to answer.

This is exactly the message Christ brings to all Christians as conveyed by the Gospel reading of today. In just a sentence, Christ summarized the prayer of petition: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you’ll find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Luke 11:9). But this is only possible if we have faith in God.

Little wonder, Jesus tells us, when you pray, believe in God’s sovereignty and his tremendous love for his children. The effectiveness of our PRAYER rests on our faith in God’s power and love. What counts in PRAYER is not: the number of words used, the correctness of the grammar spoken, it’s not the volume of the sounds we make, it’s not how eloquent the prayer is, it’s not how sweet the music of prayer sounds. This is not what God cares about. All of these do not count. Faith alone counts in PRAYER!

GOOD MORNING AND DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
