THEME: NO ONE CAN THWART GOD’S PLANS FOR YOU
Today, we have come to the high point of the beautiful story of Job. A story full of sorrows and sadness, tears and grief. A story that leaves many pondering the wrong one commits for being faithful and dedicated to God. That story ends today with joy. It ends today with the assurance that no one can THWART God’s plans and purposes for His children. Not even the devil can! And then I recall this wonderful saying that “ Destiny can be only delayed, and not denied. And truly so it’s!
The story of Job the faithful servant of God challenges us, the Christians of today, who live in a culture where religious beliefs are not taken seriously and believers only seek a life devoid of suffering, in very simple terms, they seek a crossless Christ. Job’s life story admonishes us that steadfast belief in God is a sure way of spiritual comfort in times of sorrow despite earthly suffering. The case of Job speaks to us about having a fervent relationship with God that guarantees our place with our heavenly Father. Outward representation may be short-lived, but the inner satisfaction is so rewarding that it cannot be compared to the outward show.
Above all, in the story of Job we have the stark reality that, everyone who dwells on this earth must pass through the school of tears. Everyone has a time for this experience. A time for tears. A time for crosses. A time for weeping. A time when it may seem as if the devil has succeeded in destroying our lives and terminating our destinies.
St Theresa of the Child Jesus, the Patroness of the Missions, whom we celebrate today had her fair share of suffering. Like Job she endured the crosses and sufferings that came her way for the love of God, for missionaries all over the world and for the salvation of souls. She became a saint by practicing the ‘ little way’ : Loving and honouring God in perfectly child-like way and doing the ordinary things in life with extra-ordinary love. Today, we remember her. God remembers her. Today, Jesus thanks God for hiding the mysteries of the kingdom from the learned and the clever and revealing to mere children like Theresa.
Never you think in your widest imagination that anyone can off your candle or abort your destiny in whatever sphere of life. Never you give up on your struggles. Never you lose faith in God. Never you allow the difficulties and storms you experience discourage you nor kill your morale. Never you allow anyone tell you that he/she has the final say in your life. God alone has the final say in our lives. And he says, I know the plans I have for you , plans of good and not of afflictions. And nobody can thwart his purpose and plans for you. Though they may tarry they will surely come to pass. After the School of tears, they will definitely come the time of restoration. So it was for job, so shall it be for you!
GOOD MORNING AND HAPPY WEEKEND!
